The 2016-2017 school year marks Hunt's fifth year as an AVID Elementary School.  Students in grades four through six engage in specific lessons and activities that teach them how to:
- get and stay organized using a backpack and binder/folder system
- use a daily, weekly, and monthly planner to manage time and communicate with parents/guardians
- use note taking strategies to learn, review, and add to knowledge, and
- advocate for themselves to create pathways to success in college and career readiness
The goal of AVID Elementary is to teach students how to succeed in school and life.  Many of the skills and strategies they will use transfer to the 'real world'.  In addition, each month teachers introduce and teach scholarly words to help students learn the language of success that will benefit them for a lifetime.  For more information about AVID, contact your child's teacher or school administration.
